MacGyver flashback

Have you ever watched a TV show, and remember the exact point you started watching? I’ve downloaded and have been watching MacGyver since the beginning. I finally hit the episode that got me hooked, called The Prometheus Syndrome in the 7th season.

There was another episode that I THOUGHT might have been the first I’d seen, called Countdown which turned out to be from the first season (and incidentally, my favorite episode of the series). USA Networks used to mix them up a bit, so I’m sure I saw them within a week of each other. Thinking back, I’m positive that Prometheus was the first.

Thats what started off my odd quest to own things that are oddities, that most people wouldn’t look to buy. In this episode, the main villain uses an electrolarynx (a “cancer kazoo” for you South Park fans.) It is a device that allows people to vocalize language when their voicebox has been removed. Since that day, I always wanted to obtain one. They’re not hard to come by, they’re just expensive. I haven’t managed it yet.

A number of other things on that list I have obtained though, like my taxidermy armadillo (from Night Court) and my pneumatic tube bank cylinder.

I don’t know, its just weird. I’ll forget I have a dental appointment the next day, but I know the first episode of a series that got me hooked. Hell, I know exactly what episode of Quantum Leap I got snagged on, but I dont know the title. Expect a post on that once I start the …. 34GB of episodes… I have waiting for me. All I know is he leaps in, handcuffed to a woman, she realizes he is disoriented, pulls hard, and smashes his face into the side of a phone booth. Its in the opening credits.
