Apple, I don’t want your worthless browser. Go away

Thank you C|net for picking this up

Apple has started offering Windows users its Safari 3.1 Web browser through the same online updater it utilizes for iTunes and the QuickTime video player.

I got a hit yesterday for this in my Apple Updater.  Its one thing to notify you of updates for existing software, its another to try and push down a fourth tier web browser to people who have no interest in it, and pass it off as an update to existing software.

Its called Updater for a reason, not “Install stuff you don’t want”-er

  1. Most Mac users (like me) only keep Safari in the dock for decoration. Apple’s pretty sneaky when it comes to Safari—their recent build of iWeb only shows certain effects in Safari. Apple claims this is an issue with Firefox, but they fail to explain why OLD versions of iWeb work with Firefox, as well as why there’s a special folder for Firefox users when iWeb users upload their website via FTP (full of changed CSS code and whatnot for people visiting a page with Firefox).

Apple’s slick, but their browser is not.
