Car Updates

April 17th, 2008 by gambit32

Well, it looks like everything is set with my car finally. I’ve got a 2003 Toyota Matrix, which I got 6 years and 1 week ago today, on April 10th. You’d think I’d have more than 52,000 miles on it.

Kudos to my father for hearing about a recall on the radio and remembering I havent used my driver’s side power-windows in 6 months. It wobbled a little TOO much and made weird sounds. I just really didnt have the $ to fix it. Its not worth $600 now to make things easier at a drive-thru.

But yeah, 662,000 cars recalled due to power window faults. My VIN was on the list of affected models. Toyota didnt even sent out the notification letters yet, so they were pretty surprised I even knew and that I wanted to get it fixed this fast. I made an appointment for today at 7:30. I got my snow tires off yesterday and got the annual inspection done with. Everything was done quick.

Apparently a little too quick.

Toyota took about an hour, and when they went to check me out they noticed my inspection was expiring at the end of the month.

“It shouldn’t be. I got it taken care of yesterday at 1″

“Well.. they didn’t replace your sticker, and they missed your dead brake light bulbs and dead license plate bulb.”

“”Allllllright. OK. I will be calling them as soon as I get back to work”

North Road got things squared away almost immediately. I was back in during lunch at 1 to get the inspection done. The person who worked yesterday on my Matrix missed the “inspection” on the bottom of my worksheet, even though I was charged for it. I can’t blame them, they were HUGELY backed up due to a 4.5 hour late equipment delivery that used up a bay. I was back out in 20 minutes, my car cleanly passed, and my lightbulb work completed at no charge.

So, thanks to North Road to fixing me up fast and getting me back to work within my lunch hour. It was a goof and it was caught early, and they got me in ASAP to address it. Thats the reason I go back. Donna had an issue with a faulty spark plug there that they got fixed immediately too.

I’m just glad I had the work scheduled at Toyota, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have noticed until I got pulled over for an expired inspection or dead brake lights

How do you like your Matrix?

  2. As long as they still make it, when mine dies, I’m buying another. I love the room it has, it handles well… its a station wagon version of the Corolla but with a sporty look.

I dont enjoy driving, so I dont need much. And its a nice balance of cheap, longevity, and room.

Its really nice when traveling to CT with a lot of stuff (usually when im there for the holidays) and dont have to worry about stuff being packed through to the roof

I always loved North Road. Always fast and cheap.. I still haven’t adjusted to paying $60 for a friggin oil change here in resort-town Colorado

But at least we don’t need inspection :)
