Quickie: G32 hat

Rather than respond individually to everyone who emailed me from the last post (for the love of god, I have comments enabled for a reason): Yes, I have a hat that is labeled G32. This is easily generation #5 for this hat, since when I have one I wear it until the stitching unravels. Aard got me my first one, my sister the next, and I’ve bought (at least) three on my own. You kind of lose count after some point.
So sue me. I’ve had over 15 years with this nickname, and I’m damned proud of it.
Did I miss something here? What’s with the hat?
Im my last post I mentioned about some guy trying to stop me on the streets of Manhattan as he rambled about my hat, and how he was in cellblock G32 at one point.
Not so much for O&A, but other online communities I’m in usually reference me as just “g32″ The AFRO folks call me gambit/gamby.
I think its nearly 8 years I’ve had a G32 hat though. Some people make the connection, some don’t. I just really like the nickname. Hell, I’ve got GAMBIT32 tags on my car
So why did people message you about it?
I got a handful of messages from various online people. Posts here get imported over to Twitter and Facebook, and a few of them seemed perturbed I occasionally don a hat with an abbreviation of my online nickname.
Is that because they disapprove of the online-offline correlation made apparent by your clothing?
Not everyone notices, believe me. I sat and talked with someone at the XM studios, who I’ve known online for over a year now, and it never clicked with him whatsoever who I was.
They refer to me as “gambit” or “gamby” where as, people from everyplace else online abbreviate and use “g32″ He didnt make the connection until that night.
“Oh crap. That was you? hahaha, I didn’t realize.”
