Opie & Anthony’s Traveling Virus went out well this year. I honestly don’t think I’ve had this much fun in years now. Things went off, for me at least, without a hitch.
I got my ticket a month ago, but I honestly had no intention of going into the venue what so ever. I went down to hang with my friends in the parking lot, not to go inside. I arrived at 1:20ish, and you know you’re in a good crowd when you pull into a spot and can hear people start screaming “GAAAAMBIT” before you even turn the radio down or open a door or window

It gets harder and harder to convince people I don’t live out in the sticks. Articles like this? Yeah… this doesn’t help my case at all.

I wasn’t able to get a hold of my doctor for 5 minutes of advice on the phone today
“Oh, you’d need to come in for anything like that. We don’t do that over the phone.”
“I live an hour away and I just told you I haven’t been able to sleep since Saturday. I don’t want to be driving a car in this condition.”
.. awkward pause ..
“Fine. Ill see if I can get a ride” ::CLICK::
I can’t get a ride. I know that. I wanted 5 minutes for an OTC recommendation.
I called the pharmacist instead, asked for advice on something OTC as a sleep aid. They know me there, its a small town. Nytol didnt work last night so I was looking for something different to try. I refuse to take the Ambien I have due to some rather awful side effects.
I know one guy who ended up out on his roof yelling into the night, and another whose family had to lock in a closet because they couldn’t wake him up to convince him it was a dream, and he kept trying to escape.
Yeah. I don’t feel like dealing with that since I don’t have anyone to pull me from the roof, throw me in a closet, and barricade it until I come to.
The pharmacist recommends Benadryl. “The Nytol and things like that are better are keeping you asleep and making it quality sleep, but the Benadryl will help get you there.” Ok, I can believe that. I’ve seen it knock someone on their ass in 20 minutes.
Check the packaging as I go to wash it down..
Its diphenhydramine. Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride. I had to dig in the trash to find my Nytol packaging to double-check.
25Mg in Benadryl, 25Mg in Nytol/Sominex. The Benadryl markets it as an antihistamine, the Nytol as a nighttime sleep aid.
So…
If you’re looking to save money and don’t want to buy name-brand prices for Sominex, go look in the allergy aisle and check the generics.
If you looking for a sleep aid and are also on allergy medicine, check the active ingredients.
Otherwise, hit me up on AIM and we can talk generics and hope it puts us BOTH to sleep before sunrise.

[There is a follwup to this post! Post about contract renewal on 04/10/2008]
Things continue to look promising for me and other listeners of The Opie and Anthony Show on XM Satellite Radio. Even though their contract with their earthside counterparts at CBS and Citadel, things are slowly coming out that O&A are close to signing a new contract that will keep them both on XM and terrestrial stations.
No arguments from me. I’ve been listening since they came back in October 2004, and I haven’t missed a single show. Along with keeping me entertained when I’m driving, I also can timeshift the show to play in the background at work, at the gym, whenever. I miss listening live, but a Pause button comes in handy a lot more often than you’d think

Superherohype is reporting that Taylor Kitsch (TV’s Friday Night Lights) has been cast as Gambit in the forthcoming Wolverine movie, confirming months of rumors that the character will make an appearance.
Obviously this is pretty good news, since it will mean a resurgence of Gambit stuff in the stores for me to pick up to add to my collection. There really hasn’t been anything new in a few years, and he is mostly absent from the comics as well. My only real concern is Marvel might decide they want my domain names.

A California judge today handed down an injunction against Wikileaks.org. WikiLeaks posted some rather incriminating evidence outlining some people and companies that have offshore bank accounts to hide assets and avoid taxation.
The court order itself is only to remove the DNS entry for the Wikileaks website, not to actually take the website down. The domain name records are being wiped. Because of this, you’ll get errors if you try to visit the website, but there are still a number of mirrors out there, as well as linking directly to the website via its IP.
When will these people learn that once something is out on the internet, you can’t take it back.

Once again, we’re faced with impending doom and the lies of a corrupt administration. While they refuse to utter the words “recession,” they go out of their way to shoot down anyone who says thats whats happening
The U.S. economy is faltering. Family debt is on the rise, benefits are disappearing, the deficit is skyrocketing, and the mortgage crisis has worsened. Conservatives have attempted to deflect attention from the crisis, by blaming the media’s negative coverage and insisting the United States is not headed toward a recession, despite what economists are predicting.
The Bush administration’s latest move is to simply hide the data. Forbes has awarded EconomicIndicators.gov one of its “Best of the Web” awards.
Guess its kind of a sting in your ass when your own economic data refutes everything you spew to the public on television and in the papers. Though the fact the website clearly states its closing is due to budgetary concerns is telltale enough as it is.

Yet another money and publicity whoring celebrity who has their head stuck too far up their ass to know whats good for them
Yoko Ono, widow of former Beatles member John Lennon, is suing singer-songwriter (and Suicide Girl) Lennon Murphy for alleged “tarnishment” of John Lennon’s name.Ms. Murphy’s band is called Lennon, and she is attempting to register that band name as a trademark.
Both Donna and Pete are huge (bold tags do not enough… HUGE) fans of Lennon. I never had the pleasure of getting to a show, but seeing this bullshit come across is enough to yank me out of blog slumber.
I hate seeing this kind of rampant grabbing of nonexistent intellectual property rights happening, especially by someone who only holds rights to a certain word by marriage. John’s own son supports Lennon in this, and I would hope readers here do too.
Thanks to BoingBoing for the catch and posting this; it will bring this to a much larger audience.
