Unless I am reading into this wrong, and I mean REALLY wrong…. I think Pastis just got a “my girlfriend sprays poop on me in my sleep” joke passed the syndicate’s standards and practices board, and right into todays Pearls Before Swine strip. What else could he possibly be covered in?

Just a quick note here. One of the questions about The Time War from this latest incarnation of Doctor Who has been the fate of other Time Lords known to exist. The BBC Doctor Who FAQ which was just updated this week states
The Doctor is the last of the Time Lords. We’ve no details of any other survivors, including Susan, The Rani, Romana or Chancellor Flavia. Please don’t email us about this.
However, we do indeed know (in part.) In The Empty Child, Doctor Constantine remarks
“Before this all began, I was a father and a grandfather; and now I am neither”
The Doctor’s response?
“I know the feeling.”
Susan Foreman was the Doctor’s grandaughter. I can only guess she is assumed dead in the Time War as well. I personally think of it as a hunt through time to destroy the remaining Time Lords, like Vader’s quest to kill all the Jedi in Star Wars.
How else would those like the Master, The Rani, Susan, etc be potentially presumed dead. They werent soldiers, they were rogues. For them to be potentially killed in various time streams, they would need to be hunted down.
We’ve seen The Doctor wrong in the past, with the Master’s return after the prediction from The Face of Boe. Who knows. I’ve got my own predictions (which other also seem to have picked up on) on some of the arc words for this season. I’d like to see some of them answered this season, but I’m hoping they’ll drag this out for many many more.

Its not like I was expecting the show to get canceled, but its nice to know its coming back next year
Torchwood, the popular Doctor Who spin-off and anagram, will return for a third season, according to the BBC. Characters played by series regulars Burn Gorman and Toshiko Sato died during the second season finale — the last, dark touch on a year that saw the series grow more gritty and intense.
Right now, its only for a five episode miniseries. I’m not thrilled with so few episodes, so I half expect the show to get dumped after this coming season. I’ve enjoyed it immensely; hopefully if that happens, Jack will still appear in some Doctor Who episodes

This is excellent news! It takes a lot to get me into a theater these days. I’ll be there if this ever makes it. I pounded down 9 seasons and 2 made for tv movies in a matter of months. Something in theaters would be great, but I’m going to stick on the side of caution and hold firm that it will be a straight-to-DVD kind of situation.

Its weird the things you don’t think others really pick up, but when stuff like this hits the news you realize who really pays attention
Longtime TV actor Stanley Kamel, who has played a number of creepy characters and most recently was the long-suffering psychiatrist on Monk, has died of a heart attack at age 65.
Monk’s psychiatrist passes at 65
I got eight contacts today (so far) that Stanley Kamel had passed. I guess people realized I am a HUGE fan of Monk. I know a few people, such as my parents and Donna, knew I liked of the show but I didn’t realize I had dropped hints to others, or had posted online that I was so fond of the show. Its one thing if a major character passes, but its another for a tertiary one to go like this and people still keep you in mind.
Honestly? I think it will be great for the program. For Season 5, we’ll see the show start again with Adrian devastated by the death or “relocation” of the psychiatrist he’s had for over a decade. There will probably be a sub-plot of replacing him, and going through a handful of substitutes until he finds a new doctor to fill the void. Probably one that offers a new slant on his condition. I forsee the search taking 2 episodes minimum, but probably 4-6 to make it clear that the change is difficult for Monk.
With today’s networks and low American attention span? I’ll settle on 3 episodes. If USA and NBC try to do it in 1, I’ll be very disappointed.
Charles Kroger wasn’t a primary character in the show, but still an important one. I’m sure the writers will have another psych cast, because leaving him out from the remainder of the series would leave a noticeable void.
Godspeed, Doctor Kroger. You will be missed.

For people following Doctor Who, the opener for Season four was last night. There was a wonderful “pantomime” scene that I was able to follow 90% of the way through. Someone was nice enough to transcribe everything I wasn’t able to catch
doctorwho: 4×01 - The Doctor and Donna do Pantomime
Here, by virtue of lip-reading skills, and a little help from Doctor Who Confidential, is the transcription of the recognition scene from “Partners in Crime”. With pictures, simply because I cannot get enough of their expressions throughout the thing.
My review? Great. I’m glad to see Donna back in the series, as I thought she was a spectacular addition in the Christmas special from 2006. Sure some of it was campy, but… just look at some of what we saw in the 26 years up to 1989. At least the “campy” now as a special effects budget.
My recommendation? Watch it. You won’t regret it.
Go Donna Go!

Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission agents seized 411 bottles of illegal hooch Thursday at Bayou Bob’s Brazos River Rattlesnake Ranch in Palo Pinto County.
But it wasn’t your typical variety of moonshine: the bottles of vodka also contained 10-inch rattlesnakes.
…
There was no evidence that Popplewell was shipping the snake-infused alcohol from his business but the investigation is ongoing.
I’d buy a bottle of this in a second. Not to drink, but it would definitely be something cool to put on the shelf with the rest of my bar stuff.
Happy St Patrick’s Day!
